The Cultural Research and Publications Department publish and distribute a wide range of titles concerning Tibetan studies. Each year, in co-operation with the library’s research and translation arm, the department adds to its Tibetan language titles. Around 227 books have been published since 1972, with an average of six publications released each year (including journals). Book sales provide operating funds for the institution in general, while their wide distribution serves to raise awareness of Tibetan culture.
